Try This at Home!

Sourdough Bread is one of the most wonderful (and addictive) things, both to eat and to make. I've been making it commercially and domestically now for nearly 20 years.

In this blog, I'll share some of my secrets with you, so you can do it yourself at home like a real pro.

It's great to be able to buy quality sourdough bread at the supermarket. But if you want truly fresh bread, if you want to learn the ancient art of baking, if you want to make it BETTER than you can buy, read my blog, because I'll provide you with enough information and tricks of the trade to get you started on the right path.

I won't glamorise it, or mystify it at all. I read a lot of stuff about sourdough all the time, and there seems to be an industry dedicated to making myths about breadmaking, and in particular about sourdough.

It's not hard to do, but you need to practice. Some of it just comes down to experience, it's true - and I'll try to add some of mine to this so you'll get off to a flying start. I can give you an overview, and a bit of the background so you can apply the right methods to allow for variables like where you live, what your flour is like, and so on.

But in the end, you'll just have to roll up your sleeves and get into it. And if you do, there's a fair chance you'll get hooked, like so many before you. However, this addiction is one you won't need to give up - sourdough bread is proven to be highly nutritious, has health giving properties, is great fun to make, and last but not least, tastes SPECTACULAR.
